Actor Alison Brie has set her feature directorial debut, a horror film about women, by women. More details below.

Alison Brie is set to become the latest actor moving behind the camera for a movie. Deadline reports the news, originally from an interview in Marie Claire. The Community and Promising Young Woman actor will be making her directorial debut with a horror film she has co-written with Alice Stanley Jr.

“While we were writing it, I felt like I was writing it to direct it,” Brie said. “I could see every shot in my head.” The actor also described the film as “female-forward” with “very fun energy”.

The still-untitled horror film won’t be the first time Brie has stepped behind the camera. She previously directed an episode of GLOW, a Netflix series focusing on female wrestlers in which she also starred.

“I think women carry a lot of self-doubt and we have a desire to make everything perfect before we attempt something, or we learn everything we can learn. You want to really check the boxes and go, am I prepared for this? And at a certain point you have to just take the leap and believe in yourself,” Brie described of the challenge.

Horror isn’t a new genre for Brie either. She’s currently starring in Together, Michael Shanks’ body horror film with her real-life husband Dave Franco. The pair play a married couple who find themselves drawn to each other  a little too much. Together is currently in US cinemas now and UK audiences can be disturbed by it from 15th August.
