The Shawshank Redemption gets a 4K upgrade and a brand new disc release this September – more details here.
We’re getting a glimpse as to what catalogue titles will be heading our way come the lucrative end of year physical media season, and here’s a big one to get us going: The Shawshank Redemption.
Regularly found at the very top of the IMDB Top 250 movies of all time list, the much-loved 1994 prison drama starring Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman was a box office disappointment on its original cinema release (I went opening day in the UK, and there was barely anyone else there!) It’s gone on to be a huge catalogue seller since though, hence the decision to give it a 4K upgrade.
The film has been inked in for 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release on September 13th 2021, which is line when it’s being released on the format elsewhere in the world. We’re expecting supplements to be primarily carried over from the previous Blu-ray release, that’s included in the package.
You can find more details, and order yourself a copy, right here.
