Nicole Kidman is heading back to Amazon Studios to headline the thriller Holland, which will see her take on a town full of dark secrets.
After starring as Lucille Ball in Amazon’s Being The Ricardos in 2021, earning her an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe win in the process, Nicole Kidman has reunited with Amazon MGM to produce and star in Holland, what has been dubbed as a Hitchcockian thriller.
The script, written by Andrew Sodroski, topped 2013’s Black List, the film industry’s countdown of the best unproduced screenplays.
Hereās a brief synopsis for the film, which was formerly titled Holland, Michigan:
āA womanās picture-perfect life in quaint Holland, Michigan crumbles, when she and a friend uncover a twisted secret in their midst.ā
Mimi Cave, who helmed a really fun hit with 2022ās Fresh in her last directorial outing, is in the directorās chair. Weāve seen Kidman appear in this type of narrative set-up lots of times before, and sheās always absorbing to watch as the world around her character shifts into something unexpected. One recent example is a thriller of a different sort ā director Harris Dickensonās Babygirl, released in January.

The thriller sees the actor and producer in the role of Nancy Vandergroot, a Stepford Wives-like character in a tulip and windmill-filled town who has a community pillar husband, played by Matthew Macfadyen, and Jude Hill as her son. Nancy and her friend, played by Gael García Bernal, begin to wonder if the Michigan town has a secret, only to find out that ānothing in their lives is what it seems.ā
