In a surprise move, it’s been announced that an Eraser reboot is already finished and set for a VOD-only launch: more details here.

The Arnold Schwarzenegger-led movie Eraser is the surprise new entry on the remake merry-go-round, with reports surfacing that not only has the 1996 action movie been redone, it’s already finished and set for a release on Video-On-Demand and disc only.

The film is reportedly looking at a release in the first quarter of 2022, and is based on the 1996 original. Remember it? It’s the one where Arnie was a witness protection expert, ample cover to bring in some big guns, that bit with the nails going into his hand and him not flinching, and the “you’re luggage” pay-off line.

As for the new EraserPenny Dreadful's Dominic Sherwood has been announced as the project’s lead, with V-Wars’ Jacky Lai (V-Wars), Ozark's McKinley Belcher III and Animal Kingdom's Eddie Ramos all in the ensemble. Deep Blue Sea 3's John Pogue directed the project, which was made under the radar.

Warner Bros is behind the project, but it doesn’t seem like the film will be going to HBO Max in the US, instead going straight to a disc and VOD launch. Something to look forward to next year, then.
