Release details have emerged for Prey, the next film in the Predator franchise, along with a tantalising teaser trailer.
We’ve known for a while that the next film in the Predator series has been on the way, with filming taking place in the Calgary wilderness last summer. We also know the film is taking a back-to-basics approach to summon the survivalist slasher spirit of the beloved 1987 original. Entitled Prey, the plot is set three centuries ago and looking to follow ‘a character named Kee and her younger brother Taabe. Kee is described as a tomboy, who fights against gender norms to prove that she can be just as strong as any male Comanche warrior.’
Now we have a teaser trailer to check out, and more importantly a release date to look forward to. Prey will land on Disney+ on August 5th, it has been revealed.
The film was originally slated to be a surprise release, until it leaked that the project was actually a Predator movie. Not a lot else is known about director Dan Trachtenberg’s reimagining of the franchise at the moment, but after the nadir in the series that was 2018’s The Predator, we’re all in favour of a stripped-back approach to rebuilding the franchise.
You can check out the short trailer below whilst you add the release date to your diary.
