Brandy returns to the world of horror in A24’s new horror film which finds her character facing a truly evil mother-in-law. Watch The Front Room trailer below.
Your in-laws being the worst is the butt of many jokes, but what if your mother-in-law was actually evil? Not in a “you’re not good enough for my son” kind of way, more like “she might be stealing my child for demonic purposes” kind of evil.

The Front Room is directed by Max and Sam Eggers and yes, they are indeed related to Robert Eggers, who is getting ready to release Nosferatu later this year. It seems that all three brothers have the knack for horror, it must run in the family. The Eggers brothers are directing the film from their own script.
Here’s the official synopsis: Everything goes to hell for newly-pregnant Belinda (Brandy) after her mother-in-law (Kathryn Hunter) moves in. As the diabolical guest tries to get her claws on the child, Belinda must draw the line somewhere…
The film also brings Brandy Norwood back into the world of horror. She memorably starred in 1998’s I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, but The Front Room finds her carrying a film as an expectant mother whose mother-in-law is trying to get her claws on her baby.
Kathryn Hunter, last seen in Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things, plays the creepy mother-in-law and Andrew Burnap and Neal Huff complete the small central cast.
The Front Room is scheduled for release on 6th September in the US, but it doesn’t look like there’s a UK distributor yet, although Deadline reported in 2022 that A24 would handle global distribution. We’ll make sure to keep you updated on how and when you can watch The Front Room.
