Agatha All Along has finally revealed who Joe Locke’s Teen really is, and we suspect there might be repercussions.

Warning! Heavy spoilers for Agatha All Along episode 5!

Agatha All Along has proven to be one of Marvel’s most entertaining TV shows to date. One of its strengths has largely been how independently it exists from the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the ending to episode five might have just changed that.

This is your final warning for spoilers. If you’re not up to date on Agatha All Along and donā€™t want to read about a big revelation, stop here and return once you’re all caught up.

Still here? Wonderful!

Joe Locke’s Teen has been one of Agatha’s biggest mysteries. As we know, Teen is unable to communicate his name to anyone after a hex was placed on him. Every time the poor boy tries to introduce himself, his mouth just stays shut. The most obvious answer was that he might have been Agatha’s son, who she supposedly traded for the Darkhold. Agatha won’t be getting the mother of the year award for that, but it seemed a little too simple, didnā€™t it?. He was also thought to be Mephisto, a villain who was name-dropped in one of the episodes.

Episode five, titled Darkest Hour / Wake Thy Power, finally put an end to all the theories and confirmed who Teen is. At the end of the episode, Agatha accidentally ā€“ or so she says ā€“ kills Alice (Ali Ahn), shocking the entire coven and particularly enraging Teen. After Agatha tells him he’s just like his mother (who could that be?) he suddenly takes over the minds of Jen (Sasheer Zamata) and Lilia (Patti LuPone) and has them throw Agatha into the mud before throwing them in too.

As the mud swallows all three witches, Teen is shown with a blue crown on his head before the episode ends.

If you thought the crown looked eerily familiar, thereā€™s a reason for that. The crown is nearly identical to that of the Scarlet Witch’s, almost certainly confirming that Teen is actually Billy, Wanda Maximoff’s son. Understandably, he might have a small bone to pick with Agatha, after she tried to take Wanda’s powers for herself. Billy is also known as Wiccan in the comics, and he’s often a member of the Young Avengers.

Allow us to speculate just a little here. Kevin Feige said in 2021 that the potential was ā€œendlessā€ when it came to introducing the Young Avengers characters into the MCU. Kate Bishop, Cassie Lang and America Chavez have already made their debuts, even though no Young Avengers project has been officially announced.

What makes it quite a likely project for Marvel to tackle is the end credits scene to The Marvels. In it, Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) finds Kamala Khan, aka Ms Marvel, in her apartment. ā€œIā€™m putting together a team,ā€ Kamala tells Kate, and she wants her on it.

It’s not exactly a confirmation of a film or TV show featuring Marvel’s younger heroes, but it’s hard to imagine Kamala putting together anything but the Young Avengers. Traditionally, Kamala isn’t a member of the pint-sized supergroup, but the post-credits scene bears a remarkable resemblance to a scene at the very end of 2008’s Iron Man when Nick Fury shows up to talk about the Avengers Initiative with Tony Stark.

Could Kamala be the Nick Fury of the younger team?

This is all just speculation at this point. Nothing has been announced or confirmed, but all things considered, we should probably expect to see Joe Locke a lot more in the future. Unless Agatha kills him, which isn’t an entirely impossible outcome of the series considering her villainous ways before and during the events of Agatha All Along

Weā€™ll keep you posted on any Young Avengers news if they come our way.

Agatha All Along streams now on Disney+ with new episodes dropping every Thursday.
