Manage your own movie studio in the upcoming PC game Hollywood Animal – more details and a trailer right this way.
I maintain a fascination in computer and videogames that let you take control of your own movie studio, and have picked out probably the best contenders for the crown in an article here.
Here, though, comes another. From Weappy Studio is Hollywood Animal, a game heading to PC formats in 2025. Weappy is a studio that’s made the This Is The Police titles previously, and it’s going to be releasing an early access version of Hollywood Animal in January.
Here’s the trailer it released announcing the news…
The game lets you choose the kind of studio you want to run. You can churn out blockbusters, or go for smaller indie movies. Plus you’re going to have to react to trends, social changes, events outside of the movie industry and such like. That, and putting together and making your slate of movies.
There’s also the evolution of technology that’s represented in the game. Presumably on the one hand we’ll go from the silent era into talkies, and much later down the line into the explosion of visual effects. And who knows, for added realism the game might get to the point where AI takes away jobs and you get to delete finished movies rather than release them.
Been saying for years that if someone could actually crack this, there’s a good audience for it. We’ll have a clearer idea of how Hollywood Animal is going by the end of next month.
One last thing for now: there’s a synopsis for the game, which reads as follows…
Make your dreams come true — or crush someone else’s. Take the helm of a major Hollywood studio at the dawn of sound cinema, and guide it through decades of creative achievements and glamor, debauchery and dark deeds, tough choices and unpleasant compromises.
