Hollywood Mogul 4 is set to put you in charge of, well, a Hollywood movie studio. Here are details of the upcoming PC game.
I’ve come back several times over the years to computer and video games about managing a Hollywood movie studio. I rounded them up here, and about my favourite over the years has been, on balance, Hollywood Mogul 2, written and sold by a fine chap called Carey.
Out of the blue, I got an email from Carey, and he’s revealed that he’s been squirrelling away on a new game, and that Hollywood Mogul 4 is just around the corner. This is a traditional style text-based strategy game, where, as the title suggests, your aim is to run your own movie studio. Think something along the lines of Football Manager, but for cinema.
As a result, as the game’s synopsis notes, you’re not getting a game with posh graphics and surround sound or anything. Instead, you’re getting a full-on strategy game, coded and put together by a one-person independent game developer, who’s been doing this for what must be 30 years or so.
The game is due for release later this year, and has just been listed on Steam. It’s going to be available for PC formats, and as soon as I get a timescale, I’ll pass the information on.
The synopsis for the game reads as follows…
Hollywood Mogul 4 is a TEXT-BASED strategy game. Own the studio. Run the studio. Make the movies. In Hollywood Mogul 4 you run your own Hollywood movie studio in a complex, immersive TEXT-BASED business simulation with NO GRAPHICS and MINIMAL SOUND.
Furthermore, the required specs are really quite modest as well, meaning this should happily play on a laptop. Just 100MB of hard drive space for a start. Lovely.
More news on Hollywood Mogul 4 as and when we hear it. Glad it’s happening.
For now, hereās the Steam listing.
