The slasher series The Strangers is getting a new trilogy of films, taking the boxset up to five films: more here.
The Strangers is one of the stronger entries in the home invasion genre. Released in 2008, it saw a trio of masked killers terrorise Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman in their home. There’s a bit in there that stills gives up the creeps. Not telling you which bit.
A decade later, The Strangers: Prey At Night hit cinemas. The sequel saw the same premise play out in a trailer park.
During a chat with Bloody Disgusting, producer Roy Lee revealed the news, saying that “I think the next three are in production next month with another filmmaker that people will know”.
It is unclear if screenwriter Bryan Bertino, who wrote the original and co-wrote the sequel with Ben Ketai, will be involved.
A trilogy of horror films being produced at the same time is rare but not unheard of – Netflix had a huge hit in 2021 with their adaptation of R.L. Stine’s Fear Street trilogy. We wait and see just how this particular trio of movies pan out.
