Brad Pitt stars in Ad Astra, that lands on DVD, 4K and Blu-ray in January.

20th Century Fox has confirmed just when we’re getting the acclaimed science fiction movie Ad Astra on disc in the UK. The movie, it’s been announced, will arrive on digital download services from January 11th, ahead of its unveiling on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray from January 27th 2020.

As is now the norm, if you’re on the hunt for extra features, you need to be picking up the Blu-ray or 4K release of the film. From what we can gleam, the DVD is extras-free. But on the Blu-ray, you’re getting…

  • Deleted Scenes with Optional Audio Commentary by James Gray
  • “The Void”
  • “Epilogue”
  • To the Stars
  • A Man Named Roy
  • The Crew of the Cepheus
  • The Art of Ad Astra
  • Reach for the Stars

Reading the press announcement, on the 4K and Blu-ray, you get an audio commentary by director James Gray. A Blu-ray copy is provided with the 4K release though, so you can access the rest of the extra features.

Troublingly, there’s one extra that’s exclusive to the digital download release. That’s a feature called ‘Space Age: The VFX’, and we’re unsure if this is a small featurette or something meatier. Either way, if you buy the disc version, you’re not getting it. Sigh.
