James Cameron’s Aliens will still be arriving on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray in the UK this April after all, just a few weeks later than originally planned.
Next week, over in the US, the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release of James Cameron’s Aliens lands in store. It does so alongside releases of The Abyss and True Lies, and in the case of each of these, the UK has a slightly different story to tell.
The Abyss has been cancelled altogether, for falling foul of the BBFC. More on that here. True Lies has been put back to 1st April, but is still very much on the way, and you can find more on that here.
As for Aliens? Well, it mysteriously disappeared off the schedules altogether last week, instead sitting at a holding date of the end of the year. The film had been due on 4K disc in the UK from 1st April, but looked to have gone.
But: it’s back! A small-ish delay was the problem in the end, and Aliens will now appear on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray on 22nd April in the UK. That’s over a month after the US release, but at least it’s happening. You can find more on the release, and order yourself a copy, right here.
What happened? Well, in America – according to The Digital Bits – the problem for a minute there was making sure there was enough actual stock in the system. As such, online retailers had been putting in a holding date to cover future orders, but this wasn’t affecting those who had long since placed theirs. As it happens, all dates are back to normal anyway, so it seems that stock has been secured.
On we go, then: preorders are very much open for Aliens, and hopefully, the disc at the end of all of this is very much worth the wait. More, as always, as we hear it.
