John Cena and Alison Brie team up for action thriller Freelance, from Taken director Pierre Morel. Trailer here.
John Cena is having quite the year. First, he returned to the family in Fast X, then starred opposite Jackie Chan in Hidden Strike, cameoed in Barbie , voiced Rocksteady in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and later this year he’ll be seen in comedy sequel Vacation Friends 2.
We can now add another film to the slate, in the form of Freelance. The synopsis reads as follows:
An ex special forces operative stuck in a dead-end desk job (John Cena) reluctantly takes on a gig to provide private security for a washed-up journalist (Alison Brie) as she interviews a ruthless—but impeccably dressed—dictator (Juan Pablo Raba). When a military coup breaks out just as she is about to get the scoop of a lifetime, the unlikely trio must figure out how to survive the jungle, the assassins, and each other in order to make it out alive.
The cast also includes Alice Eve, Marton Csokas, and Christian Slater
Taken’s Pierre Morel helmed the film from a screenplay by Jimmy Kimmel writer Jacob Lentz.
Freelance will be released on the 6th October.
