The Basildon branch of HMV has closed it doors.
Whilst it’s been better than expected news for the HMV chain this year, following its collapse just after Christmas, there’s been a further slice of bad news.
Whilst new owner Sunrise has taken on the HMV chain, and in fact has saved more stores than originally announced, it turns out there’s a further addition to the closure list. The Basildon branch of the chain, based in the Eastgate Shopping Centre, shut its doors for the last time over the weekend. The likelihood is that all staff will be made redundant, with the chance of finding them positions elsewhere in the company slim.
On the brighter side, over 100 of HMV’s shops are remaining trading, including ten that were initially earmarked for closure. More on all of those right here: http://www.filmstories.co.uk/news/a-handful-of-hmv-stores-get-a-fresh-lease-of-life/
Hopefully, that’s the end of the turbulence for HMV. Our very best to all the staff affected.
