Along with revealing a new character, Azucena the Peruvian Coffee Queen, Bandai Namco announces that Raven will be returning for Tekken 8.

And so to EVO 2023, where the announcements are coming thick and fast. Weā€™ve already heard that the latest character to be added to Street Fighter 6 is an actual murderer, and now news emerges from the fighting game tournament that a coffee obsessive will appear on the roster of fighters for Tekken 8.

Azucena the ā€˜Peruvian Coffee Queenā€™ seemingly likes nothing better than talking about coffee, judging by her reveal trailer. At one point, she even gets into an argument about whether tea or coffee is better. (I donā€™t want to pick a fight with her, but clearly itā€™s tea.)

The video begins with the fluffiest alpacas youā€™ve ever seen, then segues into a demonstration of Azucenaā€™s fighting skills, as she dodges and weaves around opponents before leaping on them and snapping their arms in perky, bubbly fashion. At one point, the floor breaks, and the fighters are plunged into what appears to be an Incan treasure cave, complete with gold coins scattered across the floor and eerie, ethereal glowing skulls that seem to explode in anger when a player is slammed against them.

Bandai Namco also revealed that Raven will be returning for Tekken 8. The character was first introduced in Tekken 5, and appeared in Tekken 6, too, although he was replaced by Master Raven in Tekken 7.

Raven is your typical angry man with a mysterious past, and he sports some mystical sunglasses that seem to be able to stay attached to his face while he rigorously duffs up his foes, despite having no arms to go around his ears. Are they superglued onto his nose? Itā€™s just yet another facet of his mysterious past, I guess.

At the time of writing, Bandai Namco hasnā€™t yet revealed whether Raven prefers coffee or tea.

Tekken 8 is set to be released on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC at some unspecified point in the future.
