Cameron Diaz (returning to the movies after a decade) and Jamie Foxx star in spy comedy Back In Action, here’s the trailer.
Cameron Diaz chose to step back from acting a decade ago, with her last feature film credit to date being 2014’s Annie. Before that, she was one of the biggest names in Hollywood, starring in films like The Mask, There’s Something About Mary, the Charlie’s Angels films and voicing Princess Fiona in Shrek.
Jamie Foxx began his career as a stand up comedian, partaking in the popular Def Comedy Jam shows before moving to television to be part of the cast of In Living Color. His first dramatic role was in 1999’s Any Given Sunday and he went on to star opposite Will Smith in Ali and Tom Cruise in Collateral. In 2005, he won the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in Ray.
Cameron Diaz now returns to the big screen to reunite with Jamie Foxx – they were previously in Any Given Sunday and Annie together – in Netflix spy comedy Back In Action.
The synopsis reads as follows:
Years after giving up life as CIA spies to start a family, Emily (Cameron Diaz) and Matt (Jamie Foxx) find themselves dragged back into the world of espionage when their cover is blown.
The cast also includes Kyle Chandler, Andrew Scott, Jamie Demetriou, McKenna Roberts, Rylan Jackson and Glenn Close.
Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon helmed the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with Bad Neighbours writer Brendan O’Brien.
Diaz has several projects in the pipeline. She will reprise the role of Fiona in Shrek 5 and reuniting with her Feeling Minnesota co-star Keanu Reeves in the Apple Original film Outcome, which will be co-written and directed by Jonah Hill.
Back In Action will stream on Netflix early in 2025, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
