Oscar winning actor Ben Kingsley will star in the Neil Gaiman adaptation Violent Cases, and here are the first details.

It’s been a good year for Neil Gaiman. The adaptation of The Sandman has been a huge success for Netflix, with a spin-off about Jenna Coleman’s character Johanna Constantine reportedly in early talks.

Now, another adaptation of Gaiman’s work has been announced, in the form of Violent Cases. Written by Gaiman and illustrated by Dave McKean in 1987, the comic follows “a journey into the mind of Gaiman, as a famous author recounts fragmented childhood memories and visits to an osteopath who once worked for Al Capone, weaving a dark and twisting tale about stories, our memory, violence and the ways we can’t escape our past”.

Sir Ben Kingsley will play the lead role in the production, with other cast members to be announced.

The creative team who made underrated sci-fi The Girl With All The Gifts will reunite for the film: director Colm McCarthy, writer Mike Carey and producer Camille Gatin.

No release date has yet been set, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
