The voice of Paddington ā Ben Whishaw ā still hasnāt seen a script for the highly-anticipated third entry in the series.
We’ve known for a long time now that Paddington, the bear from darkest Peru would be returning, with series regular Hugh Bonneville saying at the tail-end of 2020 another film would happen. Official confirmation seemed to appear in February of 2021. But a long time has passed since then with Paul King, the helmer of the first two films, stepping away to focus his directing energies instead on
Wonka, the movie that will tell the secret origin of the eccentric Roald Dahl creation Willy Wonka.
It was announced last summer by Studiocanal that Dougal Wilson would be directing the third entry entitled
Paddington In Peru, thatās set to shoot this year. Still, the voice of Paddington himself, Ben Whishaw, has offered an update, saying that six months on he is yet to see a script. “I haven’t read this script and I don’t even know when we’re due to shoot it. I don’t know. I thought it would be happening by now, but I don’t know. It’s gone silent in the way that sometimes these things do. Maybe that just means they’re still working on it, or maybe it means it’s not happening, or you just don’t know.”
We know that the film will be called
Paddington In Peru and that the story was co-written by King before he departed to work on
Wonka.
When Wilson was announced as director, plans were announced to shoot this year, both in London and Peru, with the main cast of Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Julie Walters and of course Whishaw all expected to return. That’s all we know as of right now but letās hope that along with Whishaw, we hear more
Paddington 3 news in short order.
