Bill Skarsgård has been explaining why heāll be featuring in the upcoming John Wick 4 ā and heās in it for the fun.
There’s lots happening with the John Wick franchise over the last few months as the series readjusts itself to deal with the ongoing pandemic. A while ago, the planned fourth instalment of John Wick was delayed by a year to summer 2022 and will reportedly shoot back to back with John Wick 5. Now we know that the next film at least has found its antagonist too in the form of Bill Skarsgård.
Skarsgard himself confirmed the casting rumour, saying āI think the movies are very entertaining. Iāve always been a fan of these kinds of over-the-top, exploitive action movies. Chad [Stahelski, director] reached out to me and I met him a few times, and I really liked him. It was a really fun role. Iām not gonna go into detail [about] what it is, but it was a fun role and a fun world. I like the movies. I think theyāre entertaining and it is something that I havenāt really done before. Thatās always something that does inspire me, for whatever it isā.
Despite IT being his most recognisable role so far, Skarsgard has previously discussed what he sees as the dangers of typecasting and as such, and has been plying his trade away from franchise cinema for a while. That includes some small screen projects including Castle Rock and several several indie films which are set to release this year, including the upcoming Nine Days and Naked Singularity with John Boyega.
We’re certainly keen to see what he brings to the John Wick franchise, and will keep you updated as we hear more. Production on the film is set to start this summer in Germany, France and Japan with the movie scheduled to hit cinemas on May 27, 2022.
