A live broadcast of Hamlet is coming to UK cinemas for one night only in April, courtesy of Bristol Old Vic. More here.

NT Live has become very successful at broadcasting plays that otherwise might never have been seen by a wide audience. It now stands as one of the most important cultural touchstones in Britain, not least because, thanks to its streaming service NT Live At Home, plays are preserved for posterity.

Now, Bristol Old Vic is broadcasting a play for the first time, in conjunction with the BBC and Altitude Films. Hamlet, Shakespeare’s classic tragedy of revenge, will star Billy Howle in the title role, alongside Mirren Mack and Niamh Cusack.

The cinema release, Hamlet – Bristol Old Vic Live, will include a Q&A with director John Haidar.

Hamlet – Bristol Old Vic Live will be broadcast to over 300 cinemas in the UK and Ireland on the 6th April. Tickets are on sale now, with lots of locations still to be added, you can find out more information and book tickets here.
