Candyman and Halloween sequels now delayed

Universal’s release slate for the rest of the year now looks very light, with new delays to Candyman, Halloween Kills and The Forever Purge. Universal Pictures has all but emptied its slate for the year with the news that it’s now delaying a bunch more films. The new take on Candyman, from director Nia DaCosta, has encountered a small pushback, with the movie now not arriving at the end of September (where it was pushed to a few months back), and instead will land on October 16th. However, in the case of the new Purge and Halloween movies, the delay is longer. The Forever Purge had been due in cinemas this month. We won’t now be seeing it until July 2021. Each of the two Halloween sequels has been delayed a year as well. Halloween Kills will now arrive on October 15th 2021, and Halloween Ends is set to land on October 14th 2022. These are all American dates, but we expect them to be reflected in UK release timeframes as well. It all leaves Universal with just Candyman and No Time To Die on its release roster this side of Christmas.
