Schitt’s Creek star Dan Levy is making his directorial debut with Good Grief, and the cast is now confirmed. Schitt’s Creek began as a cult hit and gradually grew into a behemoth, with its mixture of sharp one liners and character writing winning fans all over the world. Heck, it helped get lots of us through lockdown. Now, one of the standout stars of the show – Dan Levy – is moving behind the camera for Good Grief. The synopsis reads as follows: Marc Dreyfus has chosen to distract himself from the loss of his mom with a comfortable marriage. But when his husband also dies unexpectedly, Marc is forced to finally confront the grief he’s tried so hard to avoid, sending him and his two closest friends on a Parisian weekend of self discovery. Ruth Negga, Himesh Patel and Luke Evans will lead the film, alongside Celia Imrie, Arnaud Valois, David Bradley and Jamael Westman. Levy directs from a screenplay he wrote. He said of the film that “Good Grief is a cautionary tale about friendship and loss and all the mess that comes with it when the truth is something you’ve evaded for most of your life. It’s funny, it’s bittersweet, it’s a project that has helped me work through my own grief. And I hope it does the same for other people as well”. Good Grief will be released on Netflix, though no date has yet been set. We’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
