Maxxxine, the third instalment of the X franchise, goes into production next month. The cast has now been confirmed. X was one of the surprise horror hits of last year. Featuring a gritty, grandiose aesthetic that called back to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, it provided the perfect backdrop to showcase Ti West’s eye for slow burn horror. Last month saw the release of Pearl, where Ti West and Mia Goth’s script chronicled the tragic backstory of the eponymous character, culminating in an astonishing eight minute monologue from Goth, the longest shot of which is held for over five minutes. Maxxxine, the third film in the franchise, will pick up the story of Maxine, also played by Goth, the only survivor after the gruesome events of X, as she attempts to make it as an actress in 1980s Los Angeles. Goth will reprise her role as Maxine. Other cast members now confirmed are Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Lily Collins, Halsey, Giancarlo Esposito and Kevin Bacon. Little is known about the plot, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will “deal with the dangerous world of underground filmmaking. Characters details are being kept secret, but what is known does point the way. Esposito plays an agent for adult film and Z-list movie actors while Debicki is a film director. Monaghan and Canavale are LAPD detectives while Bacon is a private detective”. West will once again write and direct. Maxxxine is going into production later this month, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more. — Thank you for visiting! If you’d like to support our attempts to make a non-clickbaity movie website: Follow Film Stories on Twitter here, and on Facebook here.
