Rock opera O’Dessa is on the way, and the first cast members have been confirmed.

From The Who’s Tommy to Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Picture Show right through to the film adaptation of Rock Of Ages, the rock opera is a unique subgenre that has produced a number of wildly different films.

O’Dessa is the latest entry, an original story set in a post-apocalyptic future that “follows Sink’s farm girl of the same name on an epic quest to recover a cherished family heirloom. Her journey leads her to a strange and dangerous city where she meets her one true love – but in order to save his soul, she must put the power of destiny and song to the ultimate test.

The White Lotus star Murray Bartlett and Chevalier’s Kelvin Harrison Jr. are set to star, the latter as a love interest described as an “unholy mix of Iggy Pop, Marlene Dietrich and Prince.”.

Patti Cake$ filmmaker Geremy Jasper will not only write and direct, but he will also pen original songs for the film with Jason Binnick.

O’Dessa will begin production in Croatia in May, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
