Ryan O’Connell will make his directorial debut with Just By Looking At Him, and the first cast members have now been confirmed.

Ryan O’Connell made a name for himself with the 2015 memoir I’m Special: And Other Lies We Tell Ourselves, which chronicled life as a gay man with cerebral palsy. He later adapted it into the award winning television series Special for Netflix.

Now, he’s heading for the big screen with Just By Looking At Him. The plot will follow Elliot, a gay television writer with cerebral palsy, who is trying “to find love and connection in a world that wasn’t built for him”.

As well as directing and writing the screenplay, based on his own novel of the same name, O’Connell also tales the lead role as Elliot. The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons will play his boss.

Just By Looking At Him will begin filming next year, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
