A documentary about legendary Pink Floyd front man Syd Barrett is on the way, and here are the first details.

Syd Barrett, the troubled front man of Pink Floyd until 1968, is to be the subject of a new documentary entitled Have You Got It Yet? The Story of Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd.

Barrett was responsible for penning perennial hits Astronomy Domine and Interstellar Overdrive on the band’s debut album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn.

Known for his prolific use of LSD, he left the band during the making of the following album. The film will examine all this and his life post Floyd, where he became something of a recluse.

The film itself has been directed by Roddy Bogawa and the late graphic designer Storm Thorgerson, the latter of who designed many famous album covers including Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here.

It features new interviews with Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour, drummer Nick Mason and Roger Waters, as well as Barrett’s sister Rosemary Breen, Pink Floyd managers Peter Jenner and Andrew King, The Who’s Pete Townshend, Blur’s Graham Coxon, and Andrew VanWyngarden of MGMT, playwright Tom Stoppard, amongst others. Jason Isaacs narrates the film.

Have You Got It Yet? The Story of Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd currently has no release date, but we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
