Casting has now been set for Steve McQueen’s next feature, the World War II-set Blitz, and here are the details.
Steve McQueen doesn’t make many films, but when he does, they are always worth watching. From Hunger and Shame through 12 Years A Slave and Widows, his filmography is a mightily impressive run of an eclectic range of stories.
His next film in Blitz. The plot is under wraps, all we know is that it will concern the plight of people during the Blitz in World War II.
Saoirse Ronan will headline the film, alongside Kathy Burke, Harris Dickinson, Erin Kellyman, Stephen Graham and, most intriguingly, The Jam’s Paul Weller in his film debut (presumably there will be a scene during Blitz where people will be Down In The Tube Station At Midnight. We’ll get our own coat).
McQueen is once again taking full authorial control, writing, directing and producing through his company Lammas Park.
Blitz is set to begin filming soon, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
