Studiocanal has announced the filming on
Paddington 3 will start in the second quarter of 2022, which by our calculation means somewhere between the start of April and end of June.
Paul King, Simon Farnaby and Mark Burton are all back to work on the story, with the screenplay for the movie thus far credited to Burton, Jon Foster and James Lamont.
It’s known of course that King, the director of the much-loved first two movies, won’t be back to helm the third (he’s off making
Wonka for Warner Bros). Studiocanal hasn’t as of yet announced who will be replacing him in the director’s chair, and full details of casting haven’t yet been announced.
However, this is the first news we’ve had of any kind of start date, and it points towards a release for
Paddington 3 at the end of 2023. It seems a long, long way away…
