The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s take on Daredevil is almost here. A new trailer has emerged for Daredevil: Born Again just to remind us.
Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again has not been a production free of issues. When the rights to the character returned to the studio, it was handed what was widely considered to be a definitive version of the character, that being Charlie Cox’s take that had entertained audiences on Netflix across three series and several spin-off shows.
Marvel being what it is these days, though, it still managed to make a bit of a meal out of bringing Daredevil to our screens. Much of the series has been reshot as the studio significantly retooled the television arm of its output in the wake of several disappointing efforts, the nadir of which was 2023’s Secret Invasion.
In the wake of that disappointment, Marvel Studios made some sweeping changes to its TV production, not least a shift to tell more self-contained stories. That looks to be what we’re getting with Daredevil: Born Again.
Here’s a synopsis for the show:
In “Daredevil: Born Again,” Murdock, a blind lawyer with heightened abilities, is fighting for justice through his bustling law firm, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) pursues his own political endeavors in New York. When their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course.
Disney has released a final look at the series ahead of its release on the Disney+ streaming platform tomorrow. Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson are acting as lead directors for the series with Dario Scardapane acting as showrunner.
Given how disappointing the critical reception for last month’s Captain America: Brave New World was, a quick critical win will absolutely be welcomed by Marvel as it looks to navigate towards less choppy waters in advance of a huge couple of years for its flagship Marvel Cinematic Universe. Big hitters like Fantastic Four: First Steps and Avengers films are among its offerings being lined up for release.
Daredevil: Born Again releases tomorrow, the 5th March, on Disney+.
