Several studios are reportedly keen to acquire the action espionage project Red Shirt, which has been penned by Simon Kinberg.

David Leitch and Channing Tatum are both busy people but at some point, it looks like they’ll be teaming up to make a project that is being dubbed as a ‘new spin on James Bond’. Little else is known about Red Shirt at this point, apart from that it has been written by Simon Kinberg, the scribe of several X-Men films. Leitch is set to direct, Tatum to star.

For this project, we’re guessing that Kinberg will be revisiting the genre and tone of some of his older projects such as 2014’s This Means War and 2009’s Sherlock Holmes. Kinberg also recently wrote and directed his own take on the action espionage genre with this year’s The 355 which was a fun film that failed to set the box office alight.

As for Leitch and Tatum, they have respective projects to work on before Red Shirt too.

Leitch is in heavy pre-production on The Fall Guy which is set to shoot in Australia next year. Tatum is currently shooting Project Artemis with director Greg Berlanti.

Red Shirt seems to have picked up some interest though, with reports stating that several offers are already in from studios keen to finance the project. That’s pretty much all we know at this stage, but as we find out more we’ll be sure to let you know.
