Netflix announces release dates for four short films that Wes Anderson has made, based on the work of Roald Dahl.

Between Wes Anderson’s recent Asteroid City and his next film (which is said to shoot later this year with Michael Cera confirmed to star and Jeff Goldblum and Benicio del Toro rumoured to feature.) the director managed to sneak in another project. That would be an anthology of short films based on some of the short stories that children’s author Roald Dahl wrote for a more mature audience.

Ralph Fiennes, Rupert Friend, Benedict Cumberbatch, Dev Patel, Richard Ayoade and Ben Kingsley are all set to feature in multiple roles across the series of films.

With the filmmaker’s next project rumoured to be a departure from his established style, he’s apparently gone ‘full Anderson’ with these Dahl films, telling Daily Beast, a while ago that “It’s kind of an unusual form for the storytelling that we do, because my way into it was that I realised that what I liked were his words. The way the stories are told in Roald Dahl’s words. Just turning it into a movie, you can lose his words, by and large. We decided not to lose his words. When you see it, you’ll see what I mean. We use the words.”

One thing we didn’t know until now was the release date for all four films but Netflix has now released that information, along with a brief synopsis of each tale. All four films release on consecutive days. We’ll leave you with the information below…
