Disney’s Strange World may have misfired a little at the box office, but it’s getting a fresh chance to win people over on Disney+ shortly.

After what’s proven to be a not particularly fruitful theatrical run, Disney has confirmed that its latest animated feature – its 61st, in its official line of them – will be heading to its streaming service just before Christmas.

Strange World arrived in cinemas in November, and has failed to capture the financial success of last year’s Encanto. But it’s still a charming film, even if – here in the UK at least – the marketing for it seemed very much on the quiet side.

Perhaps its streaming debut will turn things around. Disney has set a December 23rd Disney+ date for Strange World, and it’ll be playing on the service from that point thereafter. It’s expected that a physical media release will follow in early 2023, but no official word on that as things stand.

Separately, Disney will debuting the Oscar-tipped The Banshees Of Inisherin on Disney+ as well this side of Christmas. Thought you’d like to know.
