Paul McGann will take to the stage for a live recording of a Doctor Who audio drama, here are the details.
If there is one Doctor in the history of Doctor Who who deserved a lot more, it’s Paul McGann’s Eighth Doctor. Appeaeing onscreen only in the 1996 TV Movie, 2013 mini episode Night Of The Doctor and a cameo in 2022’s The Power Of The Doctor – plus a lovely moment in Peter Davison’s glorious 50th anniversary parody The Fiveish Doctors Reboot – The Eighth Doctor really came into his own at Big Finish.
Since the release of Sirens Of Time in 1999, Big Finish has released new audio adventures for every Doctor, even creating their own alternate versions in the Unbound series.
With almost complete free range to create his Doctor from scratch, McGann has proved time and again, in stories like Robert Shearman’s Scherzo and Jim Mortimore’s The Natural History Of Fear, that given the right material, he was perfect casting for The Doctor.
To celebrate 25 years of audio dramas, Big Finish is recording The Stuff of Legend in front of a live audience at Cadogan Hall in London on the 14th September.
The synopsis reads as follows:
Something is afoot in the lonely Cornish village of Merrymaid Bay. Rumours of dead men working in the tin mines have sent a chill through the community, and it’s up to the Doctor and Charley to get to the bottom of the mystery. Can the legends of the Bucca that haunts the mines be true? And just what awesome power do the Doctor’s greatest enemies – the Daleks! – threaten to unleash upon the universe?
