People keep dreaming about Nicolas Cage in the first Dream Scenario trailer,  from writer-director Kristoffer Borgli.

Have you ever had a dream about Nicolas Cage? I’m sure you have, but did it ever occur to you that could be a pretty good premise for a film?

I’m sorry to tell you that A24, one of the most prolific American film studios at the moment, has beat you to it as they get ready to distribute Dream Scenario, Kristoffer Borgli’s new film starring Nic Cage himself.

Take a look at the Dream Scenario trailer below.

Cage is joined by a handsome cast consisting of Julianne Nicholson, Michael Cera, Tim Meadows, Dylan Gelula, and Dylan Baker.

Here’s the official synopsis: “Hapless family man Paul Matthews (Nicolas Cage) finds his life turned upside down when millions of strangers suddenly start seeing him in their dreams.  But when his nighttime appearances take a nightmarish turn, Paul is forced to navigate his newfound stardom, in this wickedly entertaining comedy from writer-director Kristoffer Borgli (Sick of Myself) and producer Ari Aster.”

Ari Aster’s involvement is particularly interesting; there seems to be a slight flavour of Beau is Afraid present in the Dream Scenario trailer which heavily relies on the absurd. While Cage’s Paul doesn’t seem to go through quite the same wringer as Beau did, we can probably expect darkly hilarious incidents as Paul’s fame takes a wrong turn.

Dream Scenario just had its world premiere at Toronto International Film Festival and judging from the glowing pull quotes on the trailer, it’s one to keep in mind. We’ll wait to make up our own minds, but we’d be lying if we said we had no interest in this.

Dream Scenario is set to be released in the US on November 10 with a wider release following on November 17, but there’s no official word on a UK release quite just yet, but we’ll keep you updated on that.
