A third Deadpool movie has been in the works for a while ā€“ so long, in fact, that the script has been through some pretty major changesā€¦

Ryan Reynolds, as it turns out, has been flying the flag for a Deadpool & Wolverine movie for longer than most. In the early days of the Disney-Fox merger (long before Hugh Jackman was officially on board to re-attach his claws) he even approached Kevin Feige with a fascinating proposition.

ā€œAs a Rashomon story should be, the first act is just through the prism of my experience, so I see Wolverine a certain wayā€ the Deadpool star said at a press conference today. ā€œIn the second act Wolverine sees me a certain way, and the third act is the objective.ā€

Marvelā€™s head honcho unfortunately passed on a tale of Kurosawa-inspired spandex. The project spent some time on ice, but once Jackman decided he was on board for a sequel, it sounds like more left-field ideas started flowing.

Asked for the wildest rumour they had heard about the contents of their upcoming blockbuster, Jackman had apparently heard Shawn Levy and co had taken advantage of his Broadway roots.

ā€œI heard there was a full song and dance number for Wolverine. Naked,ā€ he quipped.

But according to Reynolds, that rumour was almost bang on the money.

ā€œIn and earlier draft, there was,ā€ he said. ā€œIn an earlier pitch of the film, there was a dance number set to Elton Johnā€™s I Guess Thatā€™s Why They Call It The Blues.ā€ He didnā€™t specify whether Jackman would have been required to wear clothes.

Sadly, unless the two stars are engaging in a cunning double-bluff, it doesnā€™t sound like weā€™ll see Wolverineā€™s disco-debut anytime soon.
