Eminem is producing Stans, from director Steven Leckart, about just how intense fans can get: more here.

It took me a little while to work out that the idea of ‘standom’ – a particularly fanatical kind of fandom – emanated from the Eminem song ‘Stan’ from the year 2000. I wouldn’t mind, I bought the sodding single as well.

Anyway. Eminem is returning to the world of Stans with a documentary feature film that his company is backing. Cunningly, said documentary will be going by the name of Stans, and Eminem is listed amongst the co-producers of the project.

He’s not the director though, so let’s have a paragraph or two on him. Steven Leckart is the person in question, and he’s previously directed Challenger: The Final Flight. He also co-wrote the TV series Legacy: The True Story Of The LA Lakers, which hasn’t made it to these shores.

Leckart is already knee deep in the film too by the sounds of it, with Stans heading towards a release before the end of the year. Paramount, we’re guessing via MTV, will be putting the movie out.

A synopsis for Stans teases that it’s a “revealing, edgy, and disarmingly personal journey into the world of superfandom, told through the lens of one of the world’s most iconic and enduring artists, Eminem, and the fans that worship him.”

From the description, that sounds like he’ll be appearing on screen, as well as taking on his role behind the scenes. It might even be worth digging my CD single out again. Imagine that.

DIGA Studios and Hill District Media, two companies I’ve never heard of them but good luck to them, are partnering with Shady Films on this particular film. We’re guessing it’ll be radio silence for a little bit though, and expect to hear more news around the summer. That’s me guessing, though.

In the meantime, 8 Mile remains very worth a watch.
