More Evil Dead films look like they’re planned, as you’d expect. And Evil Dead Rise director Lee Cronin is interested.

This spring’s horror sequel/reboot/not sure what to call it Evil Dead Rise has proven to be a good box office performer, and it wasn’t shy of some nice reviews either. It’s certainly brough the iconic franchise back to the forefront, and a round of applause heads in the direction of its writer/director, Lee Cronin.

Cronin – who previously made the impressive Irish horror The Hole In The Ground – has been chatting to Variety, and confirmed that he’d be very interested in making a further Evil Dead film. Whilst Evil Dead Rise is pretty self-contained – “I didn’t wait to bait it for sequels necessarily”, he said – he confirmed that he has ideas for more Evil Dead movies.

Four ideas, in fact. “I’m excited for the potential of what could be next and and really hope that I can be involved in in future chapters”, he confirmed. One would go back to the woods, one would stay in the building where Evil Dead Rise is set, and the other two you can find out about over at Variety, here.

Evil Dead Rise continues to play in cinemas, and will be heading to home format in the UK over the coming months.
