From the director of Top Gun Maverick comes F1, with Brad Pitt in the lead role. Here’s the new trailer for the film.

Is Joseph Kosinski’s F1 one of the most important films of the summer? There’s certainly a case to be made that the film – which launches next month – is pivotal in determining the future of Apple’s experiment with theatrical releases, which in turn could have a meaningful impact on the theatrical industry as a whole.

With the studio’s previous major cinema releases – Killers Of The Flower Moon, Napoleon, Argylle not really succeeding in their desired aims as either awards magnets or box office successes, there are some that are speculating that Apple's future box office plans hinge on the success of F1.

The project certainly has pedigree behind it, not to mention a lot of money from Apple Original FIlms.

F1 is directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, the duo behind the wildly successful 2022 action spectacular, Top Gun: Maverick. The screenplay has been penned by Ehren Kruger. F1 sees them team up with Brad Pitt to try and depict the thrills and spills of Formula 1 racing.

We have a yet another trailer to check out ahead of the film’s release in June. Apple certainly isn’t skimping on the marketing campaign, so we’re hoping it can do some brisk business when the film launches. Not only would a big summer hit be good for cinemas in the short term, financial success will hopefully convince Apple to keep backing big tentpole movies, perhaps like the UFO movie that Kosinski and Bruckheimer are said to be working on for the studio.

The synopsis for F1 reads as follows:

Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt), a Formula One driver who raced in the 1990s, has a horrible crash, forcing him to retire from Formula One and start racing in other disciplines. A Formula One team owner and friend contacts Hayes and asks him to come out of retirement to mentor rookie prodigy Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris) on the Apex Grand Prix team (APXGP).

The cast also includes Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Javier Bardem, Sarah Niles, Samson Kayo, Kim Bodnia and professional F1 drivers Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. Hamilton is also co-producing the film through his company Dawn Apollo Films.

F1 will be released in UK cinemas on 27th June 2025. Here’s the latest trailer below:
