Heading into cinemas this month, Brad Pitt stars in F1: The Movie. A 156 minute running time has now been confirmed as well…
We’re a couple of weeks away now from seeing the much-hyped F1: The Movie, as it now appears to be called, in cinemas. Starring Brad Pitt and with Top Gun Maverick director Joseph Kosinski behind the camera, it’s a huge blockbuster movie bet from Apple. It’s also looking like the last blockbuster movie bet from the streamer too, as it alters its movie strategy to give cinemas a bypass going forward.
The film is finished, too, and it’s gone before the British Board of Film Classification – the BBFC to its chums – and unsurprisingly, a 12A certificate in the UK has been awarded. Furthermore, it’s been confirmed that the movie isn’t on the short side, with a running time of 156 minutes (presumably including credits).
It’s got the 12A for infrequent strong language – you’re basically allowed one F-word at 12A – and moderate threat. Which’ll be the cars going fast.
Javier Bardem and Kerry Condon are among the supporting players in the film, and the synopsis reads as follows…
In the 1990s, Sonny Hayes was Formula 1’s most promising driver until an accident on the track nearly ended his career. Thirty years later, the owner of a struggling Formula 1 team convinces Sonny to return to racing and become the best in the world. Driving alongside the team’s hotshot rookie, Sonny soon learns that the road to redemption is not something you can travel alone.
F1: The Movie arrives in cinemas, via Warner Bros, on 25th June 2025. And then it’s a good bet that it’ll turn up on the Apple TV+ streaming platform just in time for Christmas. It’s unlikely that there’ll be a physical media release of the movie, but we’ll keep you posted on that.
Here’s the trailer…
