The third film in the Harry Potter spin-off series won’t be with us now until 2021.
It looks as if Warner Bros is buying itself a bit of extra time where the third movie in the Fantastic Beasts series is concerned. There was a two year gap between the first and second films, but the third one is going to take three to get here.
It’s widely regarded as this is a reaction to the underwhelming response to the more recent release, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald. Whilst the movie did solid box office, the film has attracted criticism for babbling on a bit, and spending so much time setting things up, it didn’t leave much time to do new things.
There’s also an ongoing question mark over the future of Johnny Depp in the series, following, well, press stories and allegations. J K Rowling has previously insisted that Depp is part and parcel of the Harry Potter film spin-off series, in which five films are planned.
J K Rowling is writing the script again for the new film, with David Yates set to direct again. Production is set to kick off in the spring of 2020, ahead of a release in the autumn of 2021: November 12th 2021, to be exact.
