The third Fantastic Beasts film is set to go before the cameras following the extra time built into the schedule.
A little bit of extra time has been built into the Fantastic Beasts series of Harry Potter spin-off movies, following the quieter than expected response to the second film, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald.
The box office for that second movie was down, but more importantly than that for a five film franchise, there were the signs coming through that fans weren’t too impressed. Warner Bros recently confirmed that they’d be three years between films two and three, as opposed to the originally planned two year gap between the films.
Anyway, it looks as if things are set to get up and running against shortly. One of the stars of the movies, Dan Fogler, was chatting at the Boston LeakyCon convention, and he revealed to the audience there that “we haven’t started filming yet. We start in February”.
He added that J K Rowling had been working on the new screenplay, and that they were “all just waiting for the new script”.
David Yates will be directing again, with Eddie Redmayne leading the ensemble. The film is set for release on November 12th 2021.
