Blockbuster action director Michael Bay and Will Smith are set to reunite for Netflix film Fast And Loose. Here are the details.

Having previously collaborated fruitfully on the Bad Boys franchise in the 1990s and early 2000s, Will Smith and Michael Bay are finally reuniting for a new movie. Itā€™s an action thriller called Fast And Loose, which is being made for Netflix.

Itā€™s Smith and Bayā€™s first film together for two decades, and sounds an awful lot like 1990ā€™s Total Recall but with the bits on Mars taken out.

The synopsis, via Deadline, reads as follows:

A man wakes up in Tijuana with no memories. As he pieces together his past, he learns he’s been living two lives: one as a crime kingpin and the other as an undercover CIA agent.

Despite the well publicised events at the Oscars a few years ago, Will Smith has still managed to stay somewhere close to the top of the Hollywood pyramid. The fourth Bad Boys film Bad Boys: Ride Or Die, which paired him once again with Martin Lawrence, took over $400 million at the box office this year, and there are currently talks ongoing about a fifth instalment.

It was director Michael Bay who took Smith from television to the big screen when he cast Smith in the original Bad Boys in 1995. Showcasing everything, for better or worse, Michael Bay is known for ā€“ explosions, chases and more explosions ā€“ the film was a phenomenal success. Will Smith was catapulted to superstardom, leading several well received big budget blockbusters through the rest of the 1990s ā€“ Wild Wild West a notable exception ā€“ until he joined forces with Bay and Lawrence again for Bad Boys 2 in 2003.

It would be over a decade before the next film, Bad Boys For Life, reached the screen, this time under the stewardship of directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who returned for Ride Or Die.

Meanwhile, Michael Bay has been busy with a slew of, in his terms, relatively modest films, including 6 Underground and Ambulance, the latter is among the most viewed action films on Netflix.

Michael Bay will direct from a screenplay by Jon Hoeber, Erich Hoeber, Eric Pearson and Chris Bremner, the latter of whom co-wrote the last two Bad Boys films. Smith will co-produce with Kelly McCormick and David Leitch for 87North
