UPDATE: The cat is out of the bag: Simon Brew will be joined on staged by Romesh Ranganathan for a special Film Stories 500th episode podcast recording.
There will be lots of nerdy movie talk and money-can-buy prizes; Simon will chat with Romesh about his career and we reckon there’ll be a lot of jokes too. It’s sure to be a memorable 90-ish minutes.
Tickets are going fast, so we advise you to get them sooner rather than later. You can order them now from the King’s Palace website.
King’s Place also has a new description of the event, and here it is:
What happens when the UK’s number one film history podcast crosses the streams with Romesh Ranganathan for one night only?
Good question, don’t quite know the answer. But for an episode 500 celebration special recording, you’re getting Simon nerding on about films, and then a thorough, rigorous interrogation of Romesh’s, er, ‘storied’ movie career.
With the promise, too, of money-can-buy prizes at the end, this is a 90 minute show very much for film nerds.
And if you hate it? Well, join Simon in the bar for a drink afterwards. You’ll be able to tell him to his face!
This event will last approximately 90 minutes, with no interval. We look forward to seeing you there.
Our earlier post follows…
Previously: Next month, the 500th episode of the Film Stories podcast arrives, nearly seven and a half years after I first sat down and started warbling into a microphone. Since then, a lot’s happened. Over 70 print magazines, this very website, umpteen live events, and a myriad of mischief. And so I want to do something I don’t usually do: I want to celebrate it all a bit.
On 27th November 2025, there’s going to be a very special Film Stories 500 live recording, that’s going to be videoed and audio recorded too. This is one of my live shows, which is going to be me being thoroughly boring about movies for a bit, and then I’m going to be sharing the stage with a very special guest too.
It’s taking place at Kings Place in London, and I’ll be collapsing in the bar afterwards for a drink too if you want to say hello. There might even be one of the Film Stories (in)famous money can buy prize giveaways at the end.
Tickets are now on sale, and you can find them here:

Any help spreading the word is much appreciated. The Film Stories 500 event starts at 7.30pm, it’s 90 minutes, and thank you very much for even reading this far.
I’ll leave you with the posh description of the event from the Kings Place website…
Simon Brew will be presenting a very special show with a very special guest. There will be nerdy film chat, there will be stories, and there might even be one of Film Stories’ legendary giveaways afterwards, with absolutely money can buy prizes.
After the show, join Simon in the bar for a drink too, as we celebrate the UK’s number one film history podcast.
This event will last approximately 90 minutes, with no interval.
