Kill Listen, a show devoted to the 2011 Ben Wheatley folk horror film Kill List, is the latest addition to the Film Stories Podcast Network.
Have you ever seen Kill List? If not, do rectify that when you can, as Ben Wheatley’s 2011 picture takes you on a dark, blackly comic journey you might never forget.
That is certainly the case for writer and podcaster Caitlyn Downs, who after appearing on the Film Stories Podcast Network series Modern Horror discussing the film (see below), decided the movie warranted a podcast of its own.
Kill Listen was born, which Downs describes: “Kill List is one of those films that I’ve never managed to get out of my head. Even all these years later I keep finding new paths to follow. The political, cultural and social underpinnings of the film only grow more potent with age so I’m excited to get together with fellow enthusiasts and really unpick everything.”
Kill Listen will take deep dives into the characters, themes, subtext, narrative and much more of Wheatley’s film to a degree unmatched outside of the Movies by Minutes projects looking at specific films. AJ Black, co-founder of the network, found it too enticing a project not to snap up:
“Caitlyn was brilliant on Kill List when she appeared on Modern Horror and the moment she mentioned Kill Listen–what a title!–I was obsessed. Not many films you could imagine would warrant a podcast of their own but Caitlyn has landed on one here, and the dark revelations she’s likely to bring on this film are tantalising to ponder.”
