The future-set war between AI and humanity will be depicted in The Creator – a stunning-looking film from Gareth Edwards.
Gareth Edwards’ The Creator is almost here and has been picking up buzz ahead of its imminent release for looking so expensive for an $80m movie. Plus, it’s a high-concept science fiction film from a director that has been off the scene for a fair few years. In the case of Gareth Edwards, his prolonged absence from filmmaking following the difficult production of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has lots of fans rooting for him to make a successful return.
There’s no doubt that Edwards is a filmmaker with bags of potential and we’re hoping The Creator sees him successfully return to brilliant effects-driven filmmaking with interesting and well-told human stories at the centre. 20th Century Studios has put out a final trailer for the film ahead of its release later this month.
Here’s the synopsis: ‘Amidst a future war between the human race and the forces of artificial intelligence, Joshua (John David Washington) is a hardened ex-special forces agent grieving the disappearance of his wife (Gemma Chan). He is soon recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced AI who has developed a mysterious weapon with the power to end the war – and mankind itself.’
Ken Watanabe, Sturgill Simpson, Allison Janney and newcomer Madeleine Yuna Voyles also feature, and you can catch the main trailer below.
