First trailer released for Ridley Scott’s Napoleon

Joaquin Phoenix stars as the military leader-turned-Emperor in the first trailer for Napoleon – and it looks to be another epic tale from Ridley Scott.

Scott’s latest film will depict Napoleon’s swift rise to power. A military commander, his ruthlessness quickly gained him the title of Emperor. Joaquin Phoenix promises to be impressive in the title role, as does Vanessa Kirby, who plays his wife Josephine. Scott directs from a script penned by David Scarpa.

The movie’s synopsis states that Napoleon’s rise will be viewed “through the prism of his addictive and often volatile relationship with his wife and one true love, Josephine.”

Much like Scott’s last historical epic, The Last Duel, the trailer for Napoleon promises political intrigue, troubled relationships and exciting combat.

Made by Apple, the film will be released in UK cinemas on 24th November before heading to Apple TV+. Here’s the trailer:
