Ewan McGregor has joined Anne Hathaway in It Follows director David Robert Mitchell’s mystery 80s-set dinosaur film, seemingly called Flowervale Street.

There’s an awful lot we don’t know about Flowervale Street, the upcoming film from It Follows and Under The Silver Lake director David Robert Mitchell. Even that title has a bit of a question mark hovering around it – on IMDb, the project’s simply billed as Untitled Anne Hathaway & Robert Mitchell Film, largely because it stars Anne Hathaway.

Several outlets, including World of Reel, have stated that its title is Flowervale Street, though, so that’s what we’ll go with for now.

According to Deadline, Ewan McGregor is the latest high-profile addition to the cast, and interestingly, the Hollywood outlet doesn’t mention the film’s title, either. Even its logline is still being kept secret, though Deadline echoes earlier reports that it’ll be a ‘thrill-ride’ shot on IMAX.

We previously heard that the budget would be a not unreasonable but not massive $80m (the same budget as Madame Web, roughly), that it would be set in the 1980s, and would see Hathaway cast as a mother searching for her two missing children. Somehow, dinosaurs also figure in the plot.

Beyond that, Flowervale Street is shrouded in the kind of secrecy that leaves our antennae twitching a little bit. The film’s being produced by JJ Abrams’ company Bad Robot, which also made 2008’s Cloverfield Lane (directed by Matt Reeves) and its 2016 spin-off, 10 Cloverfield Lane, directed by Dan Trachtenberg. Flowervale Street itself has strong echoes of the title Cloverfield Lane, which almost feels too close to be a coincidence.

Given the lean suspense and jabs of outright terror in 2014’s It Follows, Robert Michell would certainly be a logical choice for another monster-filled spin-off in the vein of 10 Cloverfield Lane (we’ll quietly gloss over the not-terrible but forgettable space side quest, The Cloverfield Paradox for now).

This is all pure speculation on our part, though, and it’s just as likely that Flowervale Street is an entirely original project. Filming is said to be getting underway in March, however, so we’re hopefully creeping closer to some kind of reveal in the coming months. More as we get it.
