The horror Howdy, Neighbour! follows in the footsteps of Unfriended and Searching, as all the action unfolds on a computer screen.
There is no shortage of former Disney stars seeking out more daring characters and scripts with adult themes, in an attempt to break away from their child friendly image. However, it is rare to see quite so many former Disney stars in one film.
It’s very apt casting, because the plot of Howdy, Neighbour! follows Benjamin, a once famous child actor. When new neighbour Chase moves into the apartment opposite and declares himself a fan, Montgomery begins to investigate with his best friend Harley.
As well as starring as Benjamin, So Random! star Matthew Scott Montgomery also wrote the script. Starring alongside him are Jessie’s Debby Ryan (pictured) and Kevin Chamberlain, Camp Rock’s Alyson Stoner, Shake It Up’s Tim Bagley as well as Montgomery’s So Random! co-stars Shayne Topp and Damien Haas.
The Disney connections carry on behind the scenes, as directing is Allisyn Snyder, who helmed episodes of Sonny With a Chance and So Random!.
It is set to begin filming later this month.
