A feature documentary about the life of former footballer Paul Gascoigne has now headed to post-production, it’s been announced.
The latest former sports star to get a documentary feature to themselves is set to be Paul Gascoigne, with the news that filming has wrapped up on the project.
The movie in question predictably goes by the name of Gazza, and it’s from director Sampson Collins, with Emiliano Battista on editing duties. The film aims to tell the story of Gascoigne’s football career and well-charted off the field issues, and its story will be told via contemporary archive footage, including material never seen before.
Gascoigne himself has given his cooperation to the project, and we await now news on a release date once post-production is completed.
For now, we’ll leave you with the words of Gascoigne himself on the movie. “This is the real story of my time in football – the good and the bad of who I am – and what really happened around me. So much of this has never been seen before. It feels good to be telling my side of the story and to be working with the Western Edge Pictures team, who I trust to deliver this in the best way possible to my fans”.
More as we hear it.
