Brace yourself for the Guardians Of The Galaxyās swansong as the popular Marvel series looks set to draw to a close.
In just two films (and a holiday special), Marvel Studiosā Guardians Of The Galaxy has gone from a comic book property that most of us had never heard about, to one of the most cherished elements of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Whilst other MCU characters and teams have been less successfully established of late, filmmaker James Gunnās handling of the Guardians films has been nothing short of excellent.
Still, all good things come to an end and with Gunn taking over the reins at DC, the upcoming third film represents an end in lots of ways. Still, if Gunn and company can maintain the quality of the first two films, the Guardians Of The Galaxy trilogy will sit very high indeed on any Marvel fans list of top MCU projects.
Gunn has talked about the project in the past, giving us an idea of what to expect, stating that “Vol. 3 has a lot of the fun and the goofy stuff of Guardians, but itās also incredibly emotional. Itās the end of the story for this group of Guardians, so there was a lot of emotion around it. It was very serious a lot of the time. The actors were all pushing themselves a lot, especially Chris Pratt. It was heavy. I think I felt a lot of pressure before because it really matters to me that we end this story well. Iāll be honest, I started looking at all the trilogies that have existed throughout time, and in most trilogies, the third movie is awful. Thereās a couple of exceptions, but when I say a couple, I mean like two or three. Itās very rare that the third movie in a franchise is good. So, it was important to me that we really ended this story in a good way.”
Weāre certainly all hoping that this team gets the send-off that they deserve and you can now catch a first glimpse of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.3, set to arrive in cinemas on May 5, 2023.
You can also catch up with the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special on Disney+ now.
